VSM Repair/Module Repair?

4577 Views 7 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  SamTruck
Anybody ever have a module repaired rather than buying one/finding one in a JY? Repairlaboratory.com repairs them for $180 and also has a 1 year warranty on their repair job. That seems a little more appealing than buying the same weak part from eBay...I think?

Anyway, thought I'd see if anybody out there has used a module repair service and has any comments to share about their experience.

My part number is 2C7T-15K602-AF, 2002 F-250 Lariat.

Thanks

I am not sure if I feel better about one choice or the other as I have come across mixed results with both. After doing a search with your part number I would probably choose the refurbished from a reputable source especially if they offer a warranty.

I appreciate the thought on this, thank you! This might be a stretch as it seems information and options are quite limited with my situation. But is there any chance you’d know of a reputable source that refurbishes them? If not, I’ll do some research and maybe post it in here to get an opinion as I’ve never had to deal with a module issue with such limited options before (almost all eBay and just the one repair service is what I’ve found so far).
If anybody ends up seeing this conversation and wants more detail, head over here. KEY FOB VSM ??

I put quite a few comments in another guy's post. Thanks, hope it helps.

Update! My VSM came in from Auto ECMs. I installed it as soon as it was delivered by UPS. Feels like the original part fit & finish wise. Original part number for replacement too. Disconnected batteries, plugged in module, reconnected batteries as to not arc connections on this apparently sensitive module. Everything works in the truck again and I have power locks, key fob, door ajar light is off when it should be, and radio off when it should be. I don’t even need to go to the dealer to flash since I guess they did it for me bc I did a replacement with exact match P/Ns. So all said and done I’m in about $450 after I pay for shipping to send my original back for the core charge return and have a 1 year warranty.

I have the exact same vsm module. Did you ever find someone to repair yours?
