I really do not like the search feature on this forum...

I have a 1990 F-250 4x4 with the 7.3 engine. The "water in fuel" light does not come on like the other idiot lights do when you turn the key. I grounded out the light and the bulb works but under no other circumstances does the light work. I cleaned the connections to the fuel filter and all the connections are intact at the filter.
Is there any diagnostics I can do to track the problem down? Wiring diagrams? Suggestions?
Thanks!

DrWorm,
The ground for the water in fuel light is down behind the driver side kick panel. Obviously you need to remove the kick panel to get at it. I have wiring diagrams to send to you if you like. Let me know, Tim

There is also the WIF sensor. It is located behind the thermostat housing (gooseneck) It is about one inch square and has four wires going to it. It's name is the "water in fuel sensor" It has an IH part number on it, which is 1811164C2, and if I recall corectly, it only costs about $10. The four wire colors are as follows: Red, Red/White, Black, and Black/Blue. This info is from a '94 service manual, but I believe they should be the same or similar.
