OK all, need help! Anything clear glass or plastic under my hood has fogged over with a film of white something or other. I call it a fog because it only coats the top/ upper portion of the glass items. Zero trace of liquid anywhere.

Fuel Gauge under the hood is now unreadable. I have three Stinger brand Fuse Blocks made of clear plastic that have "fogged" over to the point of not being able to see through them. Filter Minder is totally coated with this stuff as well. If I roll it over it is nearly crystal clear and looks normal.

Haven't washed under the hood for a while, so I don't think it is related to that. Couple of thoughts about what might be happening. I have been fighting a very slow battery drain for ever in the truck coupled with a slight boiling over battery. The only other thing I can think of is a slight coolant leak that occurred after putting in a new thermostat. I need to replace or trim the upper rad hose to fix that problem, (losing less than a cup of coolant a month) but I notice ZERO anti freeze smell.

In appearance it looks like a bad heater core fog, but it is bone dry to the touch.

Any ideas?

Sounds like battery vapors. Will the glass wipe clear, or is it glazed?

Maybe it is just humidity?

It isnt humidity. It wont rub off, although I havent tried any cleaning products yet. It's almost milk like, but totally dry to the touch.

I am starting to wonder if it wasnt something I used to clean the engine with a couple months back, and its taken this long to do its damage...

I used a citrus based cleaner once when I was out of simple green,, it subsequently caused a white milky looking glaze on stuff. Citrus stuff scared me and I haven't used it since.
