i have a 2002 f250 auto trans 4x4/just bought it about a month ago. was driving home sat night and when stopped at light it started making this grinding/k****ing noise coming from under hood.when it idles up or you take off it quits. the truck runs strong as ever just when its idling.....any help would be appreiciated.......sounds like hundreds of rocks in a can rolling around...but its not coming from the motor i don't think its more underneath

sound s like the torque converter,itll sound like marbles in a coffee can.swap it before it it completely goes out.it can wreak havoc on your tranny,make sure you flush everything well after the swap.

you could take off serpentine belt and spinn all the pullys just in case a bearing went bad.
