So i went to go pickup my 2007 f350 king ranch 6.0 dually when the check engine light came on and the dealer said the code was low boost. So they currently have it in the shop and said they are cleaning the turbo. Does that sound normal? The truck only has 46k on it and im paying $28,500. Should I run? The oasis also said it never had warranty work. The truck is almost spotless.

sounds like it hasnt been driven very much. its likely that the unison ring inside the turbo as seized or rusted in one spot instead of being able to open and close the vanes to propperly boost.
Would y you still move fwd with the purchase? They are saying its costing $650. But the dealer is paying for it.

I would still move forward with it. Sounds like a problem from the low milage and is not serious. Mine had the same problem not too long ago and it is an easy fix. You should still be under the Ford warranty for a while with an option to purchase an extended warranty if you want.

Do a search on the site and look for all the good advice on what mods are available out there to make your truck dependable. Most are not that expensive and relatively easy to do.

In August 2010 I bought a used 2006, 6.0. Drove it off the lot and made it 5 miles and the ck engine light came on. Took it back and got the same song and dance. Said the turbo needed cleaning and wanted me to pay them 2000.00 to clean it. I declined and pulled the EGR valve out and cleaned it. Light went off and was good for a couple months. I bought mine with the intensions of Deleting the egr, cooler and getting head bolts and a flash. So I worked that into the deal and had some money set aside for it. It took all of 2 months before it left me on the side of the road, over heated from blown head gasket.
After the expensive surgery it is a great reliable truck, before it was a piece of shi___!!

Do what you want, but expect to pay some $$$$$$ down the road.
PS when I had the work done to the truck I asked the mechanic if the turbo was alright, as ford wanted to work on it. He said there was NOTHING wrong with the turbo.

get the truck.... its still under warranty.. when you get it back drive the $hit out of it... helps blow all the crap out/off the egr. "Drive it like you stole it" at least once a week. check your deltas from your ECT & EOT should be under 15*..... Then check when your warranty is up and plug the oil cooler kill the egr cooler and blow the turbo..... and get it fixed under warranty with ARP bolts.....

Hey guys thanks for all the replies. So i went back and they said they had the ford dealer clean the turbo and it still was acting up. Plus i noticed the previous owner must have had a boost gauge sensor tapped into the turbo pipe as the hole was filled with JB weld. I ran away and glad I did. For 4k more i got an 08 F450 with only 31k on it (15k less then the 07). And in much better shape. I think I made the right move. Thanks for all your input.
