I have a 99 titled f350 4X4 dually 99,000 miles with a build date of 7/98.
Is this a 99 or should I be buying parts for a 98? Is it classified as a 350 super duty?

I had a wheel crack on me. I'm getting new ones. however, I have discovered my ball joints are shot, I have moog on order. Today I was looking for bushings for front end. Energy suspension shows 4.5186 for sway bar. however,1999 model to 3/'99 only, takes 4.5192 which still has the 1 1/4" sway bar. I have the 1 1/8" sway bar which is shown for the 98 model. Confused!

Any diesel Ford pickup built in 1998 is a '99 SuperDuty. There is no such thing as a '98 Ford diesel pickup. They went from the '97 Heavy Duty (old body style or OBS) to the '99 SuperDuty beginning in January 1998. One guy even clams to have a '99 SuperDuty with an assembly date of December, 1997.

So by the time your July 1998 build date came around, Ford had been building '99 SuperDutys for 6 months or more.

Thanks Smokey, I was hoping you could straighten me out. I still don't understand why my truck has the 1 1/8 sway bar in the front and the Energy Suspension kits come in 1 1/4". May be I will call them tomorrow.

I had a 99 with a build date of 01-26-98. Delivery date was 03-09-98. On the 99 models Ford changed many parts during the model year. This made mine an "early build" which had many parts that changed later in the model year. I don't remember the change over date. When ordering parts, the dealer should ask for the build date. They were commonly known as an "early build 99," or a "late build 99."
