Prolly not...our truck don't run the standard OBD II, it's a proprietary Ford OBD II-Diesel. So regular code readers, like the one you linked to won't read the Ford codes.

Try these:

Ease Diagnostics
Auto Enginuity

What Fordman said

You get exactly what you pay for with cheap scan tools.

I've had both Ease and AutoEnginuity scan programs. They are available running on a laptop or a PDA.

The Ease is a good program if you're just looking for codes, but it only reads a subset of the powertrain parameters unless you go big bucks for the professional version. Both versions do self-tests built into the PCM as well. Ease sells it with vehicle specific interfaces (Ford, GM, etc), so you only get one make.

AutoEnginuity will let you do almost anything, including read and record ALL powertrain parameters, and do injector and other self-tests. The interface that comes with it will plug into all makes for basic OBD2 testing.

With both you need to get the Ford Enhanced version. I'm currently using AutoEnginuity, which costs a little more than the Ease Personal Version, but well worth it IMO.

I want to get a code reader. Which ones work on the PSD's? I would like to go as inexpensive as possible. Where are they available?
Will this one work?....

I use Alex Peppers scan tool from www.obd-2.com. Order the following package and you can use it on numerous vehicles -
TRICOM - one piece car connector interface, hardware processing, for most vehicles $182. You may need the TRICAN interface if using it on newer vehicles.
I have used the tricom on my 99 psd, many GM and Chrysler vehicles without a problem. All the enhanced software is included with the $182 price so it is by far the least expensive of any scan tool I have seen (and I looked into all of them). On my psd I can read boost, tranny temp, coolant temp, load percentage, torque, high pressure oil, and about 285 more pieces of info from the pcm. I can perform KOEO on demand test, injector buzz test. KOER on demand test, cylinder contribution test, and 2 other tests that i am not sure what they do. The best feature I have found is no matter how long you have the scan tool running it records everything that is read and every test you do so you can keep files and compare them when your done testing to see which one gives you the best results. It took me some time to get a good procedure that gave the info i needed but once you learn the software it works great for me. All software is downloaded from the website. It is lacking in instructions but tech support is fast and very informative. If you have any ?'s about how it works,or if it will work (like I did) e-mail them and you should get a response within a day. If you download the software I can send you one of my files from the psd that will show the parameters that it reads and the test results from the KOER and KOEO test. The file will act like a simulator on your computer so you will be seeing every step taken from the time it connects to the pcm until it disconnects.

to use my obd-2 psd files go to www.obd-2.com and click download and download Everything: Browser and all below optional files as a self extract full install package 95, 98, NT, 2K, BOB, ME, XP, LH or 3, 3.1, Workgroup. the downloaded file will create a car code file on your c: drive that will have all the bin files and the obd-2.exe file. open the obd-2.exe file and the program should start.
go here http://webpages.charter.net/donjuane237/ and save koer1.dat and .log and psdparameter.dat and .log to the car code/sample folder. click on file/open in obd-2 software and the koer1.log and psdparameter.log files will be in the open file window. chose koer1.log and click ok. once you click ok on the file a message will pop up saying no comment file exists (click ok) and another one that says no vehicle info here (click ok). a set player fps box will appear above the vehicle explorer window that has back, stop, and play options. click play and my koer test will play back for you. to see test results click the test icon in vehicle explorer then click enhanced (above and to the left). this will bring up the enhanced test screen. the results of the cylinder contribution and switch test will be listed.
if you want to see all the parameters available for our psd click end (above the status icon). click file/open and chose the psdparameter.log, click play on the player, then click the data icon in vehicle explorer then enhanced. it takes about 75 seconds, (less if you adjust the playback to 300%), before all parameters are uploaded and start updating. once they are all there you can click on them individually to get a description of the parameter. this is free and available to anyone. it should take about 15 minutes to run through the entire process. i will check back periodically so post any problems that occur. hope this will help out.

Not sure what you mean by all power train parameter but my Ease for the Palm will do all the power train parameters that I will ever need including recording, play back and storing of any 2 parameters on the fly, contribution test, buzz test and for the average guy it will do everything he should ever need. I do understand that the software for the PC will not do some of the interactive tests but the stuff for the Palm, I've been very satisfied with.

The AE will monitor, display and data log up to 9 sensors simultaneously. I purchased the laptop verison and run it on my PC live on long trips. With my tired eyes, the PC based program makes it is easy to read on laptop screen.

The AE also scans about 500 sensors, etc. on boot up with Enhanced 7.3 activated.
