I was just about sold on the Vormax filter for plantdrive.com (except the $399 price tag) when I came across this: Link

It is a 3-stage suction side filter that can use either 10 micron or 2 micron replaceable elements. It seems to work on a similar principle as the vormax, but I suspect it has a higher flow rate, (can't find any info really on the Vormax). I had hoped to place my final filter after the pump in the engine bay where the oil would be the hottest, but this only has a working pressure of 25 psi max, so that won't work. I was concerned about the flow rate at first, since Aeromotive says not to use anything less then 100 micron on the suction side due to flow rate. This things has a flow rate of up to 200 GPH, and the Aeromotive is listed at a flow rate of 600 lbs. per hour @ 13.5 Volts and 45 PSI. I intend to be running closer to 70 psi, and their chart looks like the flow rate would then be slightly less then 500 lbs. per hour. So that would work out to 500 lbs / 4.5 lbs per gallon = 111 GPH?

I also am concerned that I may not be able to get the oil hot enough since the filter will be right after the tank. I may need to build a very small rapid heat chamber (glowplug / coolant?) of 1/2 gal or so before the filter.

Also there is no guage like on the vormax, so I may need to install a vacuum guage to monitor the filter life. Anyone know of a good source?

Thanks Again

You can use any vacuum gauge from any auto parts store, even mount it in the cab, Just T it between the filter and pump. I'm not sure how well that filter would work with WVO, you'd have to try it. As to heating, alot of people wrap the filter and housing with a coil of heater hose and tie-wrap it in place. Transfers heat well, but could make it less convenient to change filters.
