My 6.0L just blew a head gasket again even with the ARP studs. I am thinking about trading it in and getting a newer truck. I have heard good things about the 08 models. Any tips, suggestions, etc?

This is the truck I am looking at: 2008 Ford Super Duty F-250 King Ranch 4D Crew Cab #147689 at North County Ford, Vista CA

They are nice trucks.....but they have the lowest MPG of all of Fords diesels..... Unless you can do deletes on the emissions....which we no longer can here in SoCal (Dang Smog Patrol B.S.)... they are pretty bad on fuel mileage.... Several of my customers have them and it is like 11mpg round town and 12-13 freeway and 8-9 towing any trailer......

Dang. $39,923 for a 2008 with over 48,000 miles. Waaaay too much. Even for a King Ranch. I paid $29K for my Lariat a year ago, with only 25,000 miles on it. It's a beautiful truck, but wow...that seems way high on the price.

I reponded to your other posting but I will chime in here as well.

I get about 13 city and 17 on the hwy empty of course.

F250 with 3.73 gears.

We don't smog here in Maryland but I choose to leave the DPF on because I like not smelling all the fuel and the better half does as well. Plus warranty.

I choose the Banks 6-gun as it is a clean tune and works well with the emissions stuff. I truely think that helps a bit with mpgs and makes the regen interval longer.

I didn't end up getting that truck but I found an 08 crew cab 4wd for about the same price I bought. So far I like it.

Hey brother I bought my 2010 F350 at North County brand new and I only paid a little more than what there asking for on that truck. I'm just saying I know your gonna work that right? If you PM me I'll give you some pointers and discuss at least what I did to maybe help you out a little. These trucks are expensive we gotta stick together. I do think the truck is a great truck so I would go for it. Just gotta work a better deal is all.

I ended up buying a different 08 from the dealer in Carlsbad. I got a better deal than the advertised price on the truck I linked to. But I sure wish I had talked to you before I bought it!

O' dang well never the less I'm glad your happy. Carlsbad those guys aren't to bad either, I bought my 08 F150 from them before I had to upgrade to the beast and they worked with me too. They even delivered it to my work because I was so busy at the time haha! Anytime bro.
