While out driving today, after 15 minutes, enginesstarts surging and missing, the nthe check engine light comes one. Stopped, lifted hood for obvious problems (don't we all do that?) saw nothing, so started up and brought home. No problems, surging or check engine lights on return trip.

Hooked up the code reader and got two: P0334 (Knock sensor 2 Circuit Intermittent) and P1211 (ICP not controllable - Pres above/desired). What does this mean to me?

I cleared the codes then restarted the truck but nothing after a quick two minute idle in the driveway. Is this a sympton of something going out or a loose wire or some moisture at a connector.

As always, thanks for your help and advice.

P0334 isn't a PSD code. are you sure you got it right? P0344 is a CPS intermittent signal code.
P1211 means that the IPR (Injector Pressure Regulator) might have been sticking. How old is your oil? Could just be telling you it needs an oil change. Or you may need to service/replace your IPR.

Did you recheck codes after you cleared them?

I thought it was 334?

Maybe it was 344 because it did bring up a check engine light and my Superchips tuner/reader shows that 344 will bring up the light but 334 and the oher posted number would not.

Yes, I cleared the codes. Looks like it may be time for me to get a CPS sensor, learn where it goes, and have it in the glovebox.

As for oil, I run oil analysis and just had a lab report run - all normal. It's about 8,000 miles I beleive. I did add 1.5 qts to bring it to full after this event.

Will my symptons I describe be for a CPS sensor?

Thanks for help.

Yeah, it could definitely be the CPS. They'll act intermittently and may or may not throw a code. Some guys have reported that the truck just shuts down, then will start and run normally after a cool-of period.

If you have a black CPS (look under the front of the engine at 11 o'clock at the crankshaft pulley) and not a grey one, you could try nursing it to a Ford Dealer and they'll put a new one in for free. The black CPS has been recalled. Or you can buy a grey one for about $15-$20 and install it yourself (takes about 15 minutes).

P1211 will light up the SES as well, so it may not be as simple as just the CPS, but that's cheap enough to try first. The P1211 may just be leftover from previously hotrodding it. Farily common code if you have an agressive tune installed.

thanks for advice

Thanks - I'll bring it in for a CPS change. I have 84K and it was working just fine so I figured if not broken, don't fix it but I'll go for the new CPS.

As for power program, I have the TOW SAFE program installed but this may have been back from TOW PERF days...who knows - I'll keep an eye on it.

Thanks, again.
