Never really looked. I do not think paint codes but you can check against paint codes on door.

It's the tag used to ID and build the body in the body shop and paintshop before the build ticket is hung on the truck at the factory. It also is used as an ID tag if the truck is stolen. The cowl under the dash has one and the VIN should be stamped on the motor and an axle, possibly the transmission.
