If you have an open element filter,,then you will hear surge,,, it is the Whoosh sound if you rev the truck up in park/neutural and it Woooshes out the intake after you let off the gas, or if you are WOT and when it shifts it does it too. They do it with the stock intake also,,but not nearly as noticable with the box. IT doesnt hurt anything from everything I have read on here... it is just air escaping back out the filter when the Revs drop and there is still boost built up,,, (And no that is not exactly what the "Wastegate" is supposed to do,,,though it would make sense if it did,,right?)

STALL will hurt/destroy your turbo if done tooo much..(Dont know exactly what would be too much,,,) BUT it will hurt the bearings in the turbo.

YOU WILL HEAR IT ALSO,,,but it will/should only happen in WOT contitions,,or with a heavy load under pretty heavy throttle,, (Near max boost,,,) Then you will hear an unusual noise and it will pulsate,,is the best way to explain it like clam did. Just trying to let you know the CONDITIONS it most often happens under.
AND NO,,not dumb question,,there have been many threads on this,, but I just tried the search,,and as usual often I dont get GREAT results,,
But you can get as technical as you want with the definition if you read enough on here,, though Clams was a good brief but technical one,, with the map curve ect....
