I think he bought a used PU with 153K and he is ready to do his first oil change since he bought it.

Use any 15W-40 diesel rated oil.

I figured that, just messing with him. When you start a topic with "just got me a 03 6.0 with a programmer" you are on a path to $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

 

I recommend Rotella full synthetic..........you can get it at walmart.....and a motorcraft PSD filter

 

most use rotella T from walmart. although, money being tight in my family i have moved to fords own diesel oil that costs the same as rotella per bottle but fords bottle is 5qts rather then rotella's 4 qts which also means i don't have any oil left over. Just swing by walmart and get 4 jugs of rotella ($12/gal), a fram oil filter ($18) and get one of their 15qt oil change pans ($8). It is a done deal. Note the fram is the same oil filter as motorcrafts. Take a look the same exact filter including the same patient numbers on the bottom.

 

well cillinthemost the reason i said i had a programmer on it was to let you guys know i drive it hard so i wasnt sure if that info would help as to what oil weight to use!
had nothing to do as"ooooo i got a programmer!"

what he was trying to tell you is that trucks with the programmers have more problems than trucks without programmers. They tend to break stuff quicker.

Exactly, he'll be back here in a month asking why his truck is puking. Then will want to know why the tranny is slipping.

 

I run Rotella 5W 40 Syn in mine year round. It gets REALLY cold here and if I run anything other than 5W my truck runs like $#(*!@&@($. Likes it in the summer too; much easier starting and idles much smoother.
