I'm finally getting a spare CPS and putting it in my glovebox with the tools to do the job. But this got me thinking, what other high fail items should I keep in there? What do you keep in there?

The only thing in mine is the CPS. It's been there for 100k or so. Of course, now I've stirred up the demons, so I'll be replacing it at midnight tonite on the side of the road!!

In a thunderstorm, with softball sized hail, sheets of rain, rising flood waters, and a nagging wife. (those demons usually hit hard, all at once!)

Not glove box but tool box, 1 cps with tools to change it, one GPR, 1 QUART OF ATF, 1 Gal of Oil, Floor Jack, tool box full of tools,
Center console 1 Glock Model 23,40 Cal and two 15 round clips.
It's funny I never carried all this stuff when I had a Toyota??
Except for the Glock, but I never towed 8500Lb TT with it either???

The only thing I havn,t seen any body mention is spare fuses. I always carry spare fuses, ever since I was stuck in the middle of nowhere with a fuel heater problem that I had no knowledge of at the time. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif It took me a while to figure it out (as in several hours), as well as several borrowed unused fuses from passing F150 fuse panels. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif

I've got fuses. I forgot to mention them. Also zip ties. And several hot wheels cars and action figures. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I take it the hot wheels cars and action figures are for entertainment while your sitting on the side of the road waiting for parts. LOL. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif

The glovebox ain't near big enough.
In the storage space under the bunk where the backseat used to be is most of the stuff that everybody else has plus a few more items. Then there is the toolbox on top of the aux fuel tank full of stuff. Then there is the mini-truck sized toolbox that sets on the floor of the bed across the backend full of more stuff.
I can just about rebuild a truck in a WalMart parking lot. Kinda like driving an old truck with a Detroit in it.

In my glovebox exists the zippered up owner's manual that came with the truck.

Behind my rear seat are 2 27' ratchet straps, 2 gallons of rain-x deicer, a hardhat and a safety vest.

I'm planning on a CPS and tools, but I'm at 241k already, so I wonder if it every going to crap out.

My glove box has the maps. But the rear seat was removed and I carry:

a) Two toolboxes with SAE and metric tools, including low and high torque
torque wrenches.
b) A step toolbox with the following spare parts: Two fuel filters, air
filter, oil filter, thermostat, CPS, light bulbs, fuses, serpentine
belt, hose clamps, RTV sealant, various pieces of hardware, filter
wrench, anti-seize, aluminium thermostat billet and new Grade-8.8
bolts for it, etc.
c) In the tool tray near the rear wall of the crew cab I have a 12-VDC
portable air compressor, two fire extinguishers, box of latex
gloves, various straps, bungee cords, air chuck with pressure
gauge, etc.
d) In the pickup box a gallon of Delo-400, two bottles of Stanadyne,
spare upper and lower radiator hoses, two tow straps, hydraulic
jack, five gallons of diesel, two bags of tire chains, duct tape,
large and small wheel chocks, jumper cables, come-along, knee
pads, various pieces of 2x4's, couple bottles of tire air leak
sealer, respirator, one jack stand, Army trenching tool, etc.
e) In the side pockets of the front doors various flashlights, tools,
spare batteries, tire pressure gauges, tie-wraps, gloves, rags,
bungee cords, etc.
f) On the tranny hump sits a wheel chock next to the stick shifter...
g) In the center floor console between the front captain's seats I've
got a digital clamp-on AC/DC ammeter, a DVM, more fuses, cookies,
ant-acids, cell phone battery charger cable, etc.
h) When the camper is on the truck, the stuff in the pickup bed goes
into the camper storage compartments and in the storage spaces
between the camper and the pickup box side walls.

With what ya all carry in your trucks, suprised there is room for much more. Ya all should get together one day and I'm sure ya could put a complete 350PSD together from parts. But ya all for got two things - the trusty can of WD-40 and the roll of Duct Tape - no mechanic should be without 'em!!!

Uh, the duct tape was listed at the end of the third line in item (d). But
ur rite -- I don't carry any WD-40. I do in the old F-100, along with a
can of penetrating oil. One problem with the F-350 is that its use of
SAE and metric fasteners and being really fussy about fastener torque has
more than doubled the tool requirements over what I need on the ol' F-100.
What a pain...
