hey all again, just to recap, I know I should put it in my signature, but anyway, 1992 7.3, with ats turbo, and 3" exhaust, and a 5 speed and 4.11 gears, I live in colorado so anywhere i go there are hills, now for the scenario
take off from a light, get on the truck pretty hard, black smoke at first(normal I assume) but I can only achieve 8 psi no matter how hard i try, and this doesn't happen till like 2500 rpm or more, in fact at 2000 rpm, I get no boost, even when cruising and I jump on the gas at 2000 I get no boost, all that happens is more black smoke and my pm shoots through the roof, unloaded in town, I can hit 1000-1100 if I want, and I am not even really going all that fast, I feel as if the turbo isn't really working all that well
scenario 2) total maybe 5000 extra #'s slight hill maybe 5% or so, and in order to keep a steady speed of 40 or 65 or whatever you obviously need to give a little more gas, now once again the pm shoots up there in about no time and I have to back of the gas, thus slowing me down and thus defeating the purpose of a turbo diesel
to sum it up, pm are really high I think, maybe this is normal, but it seems that is the last concern of other people, and low boost I think again, not sure this is the only idi I have ever been in, maybe this is normal, if so, i am very un satisfied with the ole idi setup
is all the black smoke extra fuel, I mean is the pump turned up too much or something or what is the deal?
tanks in advance
