I built a 96 psd for a rollback, studs, full force inj.cometic gaskets,
Super duty intakes and van turbo, intercooler, had Joey at terminator build the HPOP, DP Tuner,, Smith Brothers Push rods

I never installed it..
Looking at a 99 cc dually.
What would the difference be in the motors...

The 99 is split shot .. Right?.
Can I just get the chip returned?
How about sensors ect?..

Any thought are appreciated..
Thanks

Yes, the 99 uses split shot injectors. Yes, you should be able to get the PCM on the 99 reburned at DP-Tuner to drive the single shots. You will need to use the externals from the 99 as the turbo, fuel system, and other similar items are different. You'll need to plug your hole where the 96 fuel pump sits as the 99 will have a frame rail electric pump. The long block of your 96 is essentially what you will carry over.

No, you can't use the 96 PCM. The 99 PCM would need a program update. You could either buy a chip with appropriate programs - like the F5 chip from DP-Tuner - or you could just send your PCM in for a single flash. It really depends on what you are going to do with the truck. For me, I have different needs depending on what I'm doing with the truck. If I'm driving on the highway unloaded, I use the 60HP tune. If I'm in an area with lots of stop and go traffic or if I'm marginally loaded (say a load of mulch or sand) then I use the 80HP tune. If I'm pulling the car hauler, I use my 80HP tow. Having those options really makes the truck more enjoyable to drive. If I was to only need the truck for one specific task, then a single tune burned to the PCM would be a more economical way to go.

You are also going to have to deal with wiring differences between the two engines.

As RT mentioned just use the 96 engine as a long block. Put everything that is on top of the engine on the 99 onto the 96 including the wiring. Swap the injectors and valve cover gaskets and you should be good to go.
