Hmmm.
Interesting.
I sold my Duallie 6.0L diesel a couple of months ago, and I was expecting to see something new from Ford in the design dept.
I guess when American automakers are shoved up against the ropes financially, I should have known that nothing new was coming.
I'm going to try a Chevy DuraMaxipad this time around I guess, but only if it has the new body.
Other than that'it looks like I'm going to skip diesel power when Tier II power is the only choice.
I tow a boat, and a 26' race car trailer, and to my surprise, the 6.0L GM gasser does a good job. Don't get me wrong, it smells a steep hill, but other than that, she tows at 75 mph pretty consistantly..

the all new 2008 Ford will be out in Jan, it was always gonna be out in Jan, nothing has changed. Ford only makes drastic style changes to the Superduty every 6-8 years.

The Superduty was introduced in the spring of 1998. That's over 9 years of production. The truck is nice, but very stale..
10 years is a long time to ride on sheet metal without a major update.

[/ QUOTE ]I think the style has aged very well. It has a rugged good look to it that just doesn't seem to get old. Unlike Chevy and Dodge, that seem to be chasing styling fads trying to make their trucks look "hip". I would have been perfectly happy if Ford just kept the body style they have now and would have instead put the money they spent on new styling into increasing the usefull content of the truck.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the style, but is is getting old and stale.
I've had two of them, my buddy has had four.
The 05' dash was a big improvement, but the sheet metal has to be changed a little to keep the loyalists buying them.
Myself, I just don't want to plank down another 50K for the same thing that I've owned for the last ten years. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

Our truck is a new sheetmetal design for MY '08.

I list the changes in the edmund spy pic topic, also the front clip is completely different, box sides are new sheetmetal. All new interior, engine and so one. Only thing that had very few changes were the front doors from what i can tell. Nobody changes every last part in there redesigned trucks. There will always be some carryover. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

ditto.

Ford typically goes 10 years between major changes on Superduty. The last couple years they have freshened up the Superduty because the customer profile is changing. In the early 90's, Superduty's were typically only sold for commercial use. The demographics are changing across the board on all pickup trucks.

A pickup truck used to be a tool for the working man, now it runs the gamut from work necessary to personal expression. It's a different world.

To borrow a GM phrase, "this ain't your grand daddy's pickup"

And that is the exact reason the price of trucks goes up ten grand every 10 years: government regulations (which over-all have been a very good thing), the change in demographics (Hey! Look at me! I can actually afford to go into debt far enough to buy a Crewcab Superduty so my wife can drive it to our kid's soccer games while I'm working weekends for the next 7 years to pay for it!), and the "american" demand for uniqueness ("...and I'm like, Oh, My Gawd. I just spent $25 grand pimpin' my ride when the 22 year old nextdoor neighbor he-ho pulled into his driveway with his new truck and it's the same year, color and model as mine he got the exact same 24's that I just paid $8K for last weekend! I'm like, "you bastard, I HATE you!"").

Personally, I'm nauseatingly utilitarian and disgustingly cheap. I'd be happy with a '64 Unimog even if everybody had one. And yes, I've owned 3 VW beetles. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

Maybe some people are extremely rude and annoying, no need to talk that way to clam, and I'm one of those people that don't have to work all day either by the way but I still have manners and a fat wallet, but the bottom line like clam said is that most consumers cannot absorb another 10k hike in vehicle prices period.

Maybe some people out there have money to burn and don't care about price..
Maybe some people don't have to work at all to buy an expensive truck.
Maybe some moms prefer to go soccer hopping with a 350 hp diesel.

Yeah, maybe you're right. Maybe those people are the vast majority of truck owners so they control the market. No wonder Ford's quality is "throw away."
By the way George, what's the C stand for? Chebby?
