I'm looking at possibly buying a 1990-1992 International 4900 DT466 state plow truck (check the classifieds) and i'm wondering where (reasonably local to Columbus,OH) i could sell the accessories i won't use, like the dump body, plow, salt spreader, and hydraulic system? i think i can buy the truck for fairly cheap and if i could sell this stuff for even half of what it's worth i'm sure i could make nearly all of my money back on the truck. i'd hate to do ebay cause i don't know how well a 9' dump bed would sell on there /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif...but any options/opinions will be appreciated...oh yeah i need answers before 5 days (auction ends). thanks

Local paper, craigslist, truck trader, and truckpaper is all I can think of right now.

There is a magazine called The Ohio Trucker.A lot of dealers advertize in it but there is also a classified section . Their rates are resonable.I no longer have their number but you could probably tract them on Google or go to one of the big truck dealers in Columbus and ask for the number.

how hard would it be to sell the stuff i would have? i'm looking to be able to get rid of them quickly so is this something people are constantly in need of or is there any place i could drive to and say i'll trade you all this for a flat bed with hitches? i'll check on that Ohio Trucker

the biggest hurdle you will find trying to sell that type of used equipment is the labor cost to the buyer to have it installed. When a truck upfitter sells a body, he makes profit on the body and labor. If all he is doing is an install of used equipment, all he has is labor for profit and to cover his expenses. Plus, if he installs all that equipment and it doesn't work, he has a problem. So, what I am saying is that anyone who is buying used equipment like that wants to "steal" it so to speak, so they can get it super cheap.
