I'm looking for a water pump with the outlet tube already molded/cast in. All the normal auto parts resources I have locally stock only the two-piece (OEM) design.

This should help avoid a potential weak spot or leak in the future right? Are there any disadvantages to using one like this? Thanks!

Hmmm, that's interesting. I was watching the water pump replacement video on powerstrokehelp.com and he mentioned to be sure and get a water pump with the one piece design. That's all he said, I assumed it was an option like the upper radiator hose thing.

Frankly I have much more trouble with the thermostat housing sealing than the down tube. RTV it with the oring provided and it will not leak!

Just for peace of mind 444.

I'm going to probably get the one I saw someone else recommend at Northernautoparts.com. Seems like a hard deal to beat for $94!

I just replaced the water pump on my 01 X and I bought a factory pump because the first lasted 180,000 miles.

I got a new neck that sits on top the thermostat and with the seals that it came with I put it back together and I didn't have any leaks AT ALL!

Just take your time and clean everything really well......Take your time and everything will be fine.
