Wheel bearing is on it's way out and this is the 2nd time I've have to replace one on my truck. The first time I just bought a timken online that said it fit my 2000 F250 4WD and swapped it out. Now I'm calling local auto part stores and they are asking me if I need fine thread or course thread studs, 2W ABS or 4W ABS....I must have been super lucky with the one I got online because none of those questions were asked. How do I know which specs I need? I assume I can just go look at the rear wheels to see if they have ABS sensors, but it's stupid cold outside and dark and just too lazy at the moment :grin2: Thanks!

Your truck being a 2000 model, I'm gonna say that you have coarse threads on the wheel lugs. The fine thread lugs started somewhere in 02 model year IIRC. If you're buying the hub assembly at a parts store and they have both on hand, remove one of your lug nuts and take in in with you. The one that your lug nut will screw on to is the one to buy.


You won't find ABS sensor wires at the rear wheels, as the ABS (both RW and 4W) uses just the VSS on the pumpkin. To be able to tell if you have RWABS or 4WABS, look for the wires clipped to the front brake hoses. If you have those, you have 4WABS. You can easily see those the next time you go out to drive it somewhere, even in the stupid cold, and you don't even have to bend down that far to see it. But even if you don't have 4WABS, you can use the hub assembly for that style. You will have a connector at the rear of the fender liner to connect the sensor pigtail to, or you could just clip the pigtail off the sensor (waste of a good sensor though).

I think someone (Riff Raff Diesel I think) makes a little cover with a grease zerk that bolts on where the abs sensor is . If you're truck doesn't have abs on the front and you buy a hub with abs and you can use it to grease the hub assembly.
