I have an 04 and it has just started making a whining sound from the front end kind of like a boost leak. Its intermittent, but mostly when it up shifts and down shifts. Sometimes at a constant speed also. I even heard it just after i shut the motor down.Its alot like stretching a balloon on the sides letting the air out, that high pitch sound. Anyone having this problem? I also have a crackling sound under the dash sometimes. when u put your foot on the brake it will stop the sound, but as soon as you lift your foot, its back.

Mine sounded the same and they ordered me a new turbo. I havn't got it back yet to know if it is fixed.

Maybe the Turbo is going bad. I had a similar sound, and they replaced the Turbo. All clear now. The new Turbo does have a slightly differnet sound (whistle).
