Im going to be replacing the injectors on my truck pretty soon and have been looking around on the internet. Im trying to decide between a set of stage 1 or stage 2s. ill also be adding an airdog fuel system, holeset turbo conversion kit, hpop, and dp-tuner chip. any help of deciding withc brand and sizes to go with would be greta!
thanks alot!

why not some hybrids and a modded h2e? I was going to go stage 2's but read alot of stories about guys wishing they would have went bigger. Hybrids can also be turned down to near stock levels. Either that or get smaller hybrids (200cc) combined with a stock h2e and you should be lower in the 400's for hp. With hybrids there is always room to expand and still get away with running your stock HPOP. Also I heard get your chip from who ever making your injectors. But that said Jody will have no problems tuning your truck either.
Beans, Swamps are just a couple. Ask around and buy who you feel comfortable with. Alot of them could get you a package deal.
Good luck!

2001 more than likely has PMR's..IMO best to stick to no larger than stage 1's. Stock turbo with a 1.0 housing and a WW will be a great combo.

Hybrids...unless your looking at over 450HP no reason to spend the $$

Here is the engine serial number break down for the forged and powdered connecting rods. Check you engine serial number on the valve cover build sticker or you need to look at the block where the oil cooler is bolted to it .
Start of production thru 1425746 are Forged Rods
1425747 thru 1440712 are Powdered Rods
1446713 thru 1498318 are Forged Rods
1498319 thru final production run are all powdered

Its best to also do a visual check..7.3 Inspection Hole for Powdered Metal Rod Determination

Hey Cary,

How exactly sure are you on these numbers? I have a build sticker from my motor with a Sept 25 2000 date # 1478067. I may have been raindead at the time, and I'm damn sure gonna check again, but they sure looked like PMRs in my motor. Hell, I really hope that your are right!!!

sorry I got ahead of myself. Best way to check is threw the inspection hole above the oil filter then u know for sure. Might have to buy some key stock for it. Either 5/16 or 7/16 I can't remeber. Use a bore scope if u can get your hands on one. Mines a 01 with a build date of 9/00... I got lucky. 400 on pmrs and 500 on fordged rods. I know one guy. Pushing mid 600 with fordged but he's on barrowed time.

it depends on how much you can afford. i am happy with my 200's from swamps. they are a little bit to much for my early 99 with bean's turbo. i love it though. some injectors are really expensive. i can't speak from experience with injector companies, but generally speaking more money is a better product.

ill be sure to check and see if i can tell anything threw the inspection hole tomorrow. i took alook on the valve cover and saw a orange sticker with some info but the intercooler pipe was right in the way to read anything.
who makes a good set of hybrids?
smalls_you said that you would not trust dp? why is that? ive looked around on here and everyone has been talking so highly of them.
thanks for all the replies!

i find that dp tunes are very aggressive. i have read of blown up trucks with dp tunes. if you want to be at max, dp is great.

Well, sorta...depends on your definition of max. My truck made substantially more horsepower with Bean's tunes than it did DP's on the same setup. Jonathan (Bean's tuner) told me he was using quite a bit less timing too.

How about stage1 single shots? That is what I run with a van turbo without the warm up valve, ITP regulated return, AIS, and TS chip tuned by Cale at BTS. It pulls like a freight train. My tunes are mainly for towing.

i definatly want a custom tune done by some one, either, bean, cale, or dp tuner. does any one know if they are able to burn onto a bully dog 6 position chip? i have one laying around and would like to save a little money if i could and spen it on something else! im kinda leaning towards a set of stage 1s but it all depends on what kind of rods i have!

good to know that beans tunes have been proved. i think tuning will always progress with time. better efficiency more power. bottom line though...a daily driver truck with any custom tune will be great.

You should look at the 200/30% hybrids from swamps. Lots of PMR trucks running on those. Add a 38R and you will be very happy.
My 250's are going strong on my PMR motor with DP tunes!

well i looked arounf on the valve covers and had no luck finding the number, on the passenger side there was a big orange stick that had some nfo on and another sticker towards the back but couldnt really read anything about it. on the drivers side there was another sticker towards the back but couldnt read it either. it looked like towards the front of the valve covers the used to be a square sticker there but it seems that it has vanished lol im going to get a tool a check the inspection whole and see how that goes lol

Yep, straight off the lot. Its almost 10yrs old and only has 107k miles on it. Gonna keep it forever. I am planning to check the inspection hole this weekend. A set of forged rods would be REALLY nice.

Thanks and I'll post when I have taken a look.

just thought i would update everyone. i ended up ordering some parts threw swamps diesel. they were super helpful. i ended up getting some stage 1 175/146 single shot injectors, custom tuned ts6 possition chip, and all isspro gauges. we put them on last weekend. the trucks runs so much better! i hadnt had the track out on the road very much until yesterday when i took and 150 mile trip. my truck surges alot more now with the bigger injectors in it. so it looks like i will be looking for a bigger turbo then i had thought!
