I had a Leer on my 2001 and wasn't happy with it. Had to have a Leer again on a 2008 because, at the time, they were the only game in town. Again, I had issues with the Leer. I'm ion the market again.

ARE? Snugtop? Who's had a positive experience with any manufacturer?

Snug-Top with out a doubt! Have had three. One on a 98 F-150, one on a 2007 F-150, and my current one on my 04 F-350. Loved all of them. Fit and finish is second to none and very durable. One downfall though. They are expensive.

I've had a few leer's and snugtops through the years. Their too much money for what you get. I just got an Astro from Canopies Unlimited in Portland Oregon Web Site: Home Page. I am very impressed with the LED model. I paid $1000 OTD and the shell was loaded. Go with an Astro.

:ford:I have a A.R.E. Z-series on my 08 F-350, keyless entry, folddown/slide front window to make cleaning cab and window easier, dual dome lights, carpet headliner, rear windows pivot open. Had to send the first one back because the semi driver went under some low branches and scratched it. They sent it to get repaired and it came back worse. I e-mailed ARE and called the dealer. I also sent the dealer about 20 pics of the work the repair shop did. ARE built me a new canopy and it's going on this Sat.. I really like the style and options, but the shop that did the repair really screwed it up. Can't wait till Sat. to get my new one.

W or WO step

Not to hijack a thread but it would be nice to know if the toppers you like are with or without the step. When I got my Leer they were the only ones that made a top for the step. It has the protrusion on the rail (hope I spelled that right).

StanMI - good point. I am the original poster and my 2008 had the step. At the time (11/08 Leer) was the only manufacturer that had a model in production. ARE and Snug both now have tailgate step models out. I'll be checking them out ASAP. No way I'm going with a Leer again.

I'd say SnugTop. Mine is the XV model.
