Im not trying to be funny, just curious. I see some of these big trucks jacked 8" 10" even much more with 40" plus meats but I cant imagine rock crawling with them, or that many of you have to cross streams to get to your homes.

With all the EXPENSE and strain on parts, etc. Why? Just looks?

I could see it on a smaller truck that you would be beating in the woods but who wants to beat up a 42,000 truck with a front end that will sink in the mud?

apparently the mud isnt that bad up in oregon? the trophy wildlife at all of our pieces of property are smart. theyve been hunted for 8-10 years now, and have learned the safe spots because no one can get back to them or across the creeks/swamps. now i can get back to these honey holes where everyone else would just get stuck. 4 wheelers can get back there, but its no fun huntin when youre soaking wet and covered in mud. 4wd rangers will not make it either, theyre wet anyways too.

besides, im in college. the chicks love big trucks!

100% for looks. My lifted Excursion serves no other purpose than to be my Sunday driver and my trailer puller. MAYBE 7000k miles a year. I have a work truck to beat up for everything else I get into.

Thats the same question I get asked about 5 times a day "why did you lift it" I lifted mine because it looks nice the same with the ricers that put those corny lighted washer nozzels on,although that question still puzzles me, I live in NJ, in the city of plainfield I have never taken my truck off road, i even have super swamper tsl on the truck and they have never seen off road but I have them on because they look good. so what if when I go down the road making the loudest niose in the world, I like it.

because stock sucks! seriously i think it looks great and can perform if needed better than a stock rig can. mine also hasnt been offroad yet, bit i will eventually. i just think a truck should be big and powerful, aggresive in its stance.

"Apparently the mud isnt that bad up in Oregon?"
You have to forgive him; if it lists Tigard Oregon you might as well say LA Ca. The mud is that bad if you leave the road.
4.5" lift and 35" mud tires and I was still dragging the dif housing at times. Oh by the way that was on a road, it was in Eastern Or. Many places in western Or you need the clearance to get over the logs and brush. Then again you will need to leave the road. You would know this if you (the person in Tigard Or.) were a native Oregonian and not a transplant. Have to admit though that some are just road beauty queens.

BTW smaller cars are easier drive over the top of if you ride a little higher. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Pretty funny, actually I bought this truck about 900 miles ago and it was already lifted. It may be more than 2" because the top of the wheel well is almost a foot above the top of the 33. Bought it used so Im not THAT paranoid about keeping it clean and dent free but I cant imagine taking 9000 pound $42,000 trucks out and beating em up because Im not made out of money. Plus they are so DANGED LONG! If I go out in the rough stuff its with an 85 shortbed chevy 4x4 with a seriously pumped mouse motor. I only have 31s on that and have never failed to get where guys with up to 40s have gone.

Ok,,Im an old married guy so forgot about the babe magnet factor, lol

Have to admit though that its expensive!! You lose mpg, you wear out parts, the tires are expensive, blocks tweak your springs etc etc.

Probably has something to do with the above.

P.S. They ought to come from the factory this way.

Peace

Stock rigs can't hack it offroad, period. I use mine offroad for getting to camping, fishing and hunting spots here in Colorado and need to have a rig more capable than stock that can haul gear that my rockcrawler can't handle. Also, I simply don't want to drive the same truck everyone else drives and there are Super Duty's everywhere these days... I've owned 5 Ford trucks and 1 Jeep and none were stock for long...
