hello all i'm new here to the site. I have a 2000 f-250 cc 4x4. this is my first diesel truck and i do love it. i was hoping some of you with more experiance with these truck could help me. when i idle for any length of time my a/c stops cooling but once i get moving again it starts cooling again. anyone know what could be causing it. it has a full freon charge and the compressor is cycling correctly. any suggestions will be appreciated.

Try this:

At slow speeds, especially when it is hot outside or after your engine is warm, the AC clutch disengages. I'll prove it. The next time it happens, when it is blowing warm and the truck is running, open the hood and take a look. Then take a stick and tap the clutch wheel. It will engage, but won't stay engaged all that long.

Here's what I did. Take the hub off. You'll find a washer (spacer) in the hub. Take that washer out, and put the hub back on without the spacer.

Mine has worked fine now for over a year.

Good luck.

Not my idea, copied and saved to my HD from this site.

The other thing that could be happening is the fan clutch might be going out on you...
