There is a broke wire off of the solenoid? that is between the fuel filter and the oil fill. Wire comes off right side nearest passenger(thinner wire). Reason I dont want to just hook back up is it looks to be off a while and truck is down with fuel problems, but was running good prior to "clog?"

Is this wire needed or am I crazy not wanting to hook right back up?

That sounds like the glow plug relay. Do your glow plugs work?

They seemed to work fine all winter. I put the photo as my main truck photo. Didn't know how to add to post

Yes, that's the glow plug relay, and the broken wire feeds (or doesn't, in this case) one bank of glow plugs. The engine will start quicker if you reconnect it. This diagram & its caption explain how to reattach a fusible link wire:

That is one of the wires that feed just 2 glow plugs on one bank so odds are the rest of the glow plugs would be working.

To repair it I would get some heat shrink tubing and soldier it and then seal it up with the heat shrink.
