Wiring Harness

Well, its been along time being on here. I was a regular. Everyone will remember I spent a ton of money building a real nice 7.3 with all the goodies. It was a monster. 4 yrs ago a guy merging on an elevated hwy poked my back end pit maneuver style. I spun out, went off the elevated hwy and rolled 5 times. Truck destroyed, motor kept running. lol. Broke my back in 5 places. Any way , 4 yrs later I'm walking, and building cars again. I saved the motor and the transmission/transfer because I spent 35k on them and the insurance company wanted to pay for a high mileage original motor. So I want to use this in a project, restomod into an old ford truck. My only hurdle is I need a wire harness for just the motor. A stand alone 2002 7.3 harness, or a diagram of how to make one. I have the entire truck harness so have all the pieces and sensors, just need to know the pieces needed for just the motor, nothing else. Found a guy named Cody who makes exactly what I need. But he does 7.3 swaps so he won't sell me one. Grrrrr. He did take a pic of 2 slightly different, so I kinda can see what plugs i need, but not the wiring. It wasn't to big a harness so some one else must have a drawing for one. Thanks in advance. sure would be nice to fire this up again. The last time was 4 years ago when my son helped pull it out of the mangled wreck.

I am glad you have recovered. I remember your username.... I joined in ‘18 but we’ve lost a lot of participation from members on our site, good to have you back after such a tragic accident.

Other than possibly a salvage yard, I’ve seen these on the Riffraff site. They are a bit pricey - here’s the link:

Thanks, thats the top of engine harness. Mines still on there and good. I need an aftermarket harness to run the engine. Not an existing harness. I need one that attaches to the 10 pin engine harness you just provided, then goes to cpu etc, power, a fuse box, think it needs like 6 fuses, its hard to see on that Cody guys pics. He made a small harness out of regular truck harness, but all it runs is the motor. So you could start the motor on your engine stand if you wanted. They call those stand alone harnesses. If you buy a crate motor, it comes with a stand alone wire harness so you can make it run. The rest of your vehicle you wire yourself. It only runs the motor, not even the auto tranny will work. I gonna use a manual anyway, I just need to get the motor to run.
Welcome back to 7.3ing
Glad to hear you've recovered from that disaster.

You'll need the Body harness that connects the PCM and IDM to the Fuse box. Also the branch over to the MAP sensor, and the Accelerator Pedal. You should be able to harvest that from a wreck. You'd need the fuse box or gin up something to connect the PCM and IDM Power relays, which live in the fuse box on on 02. If you just want to get the engine to run, you could use the harness and underhood fuse box from a 99-01 truck that has the PCM and IDM relays in it.
That sure sounds like the picture that Cody guy gave me. I'm going to see if I can get that pic off my phone and post it . someone like you will recognize all the branches and tell me how to make it. If I can get it youll notice he uses some aftermarket fuse box thats smaller than the monster. Funny thing. I removed the entire wire harness from bumper to bumper, left all stuff plugged in and labeled everything. It was a crew cab long box too. hahaha. That harness , no kidding filled the entire cab of my 81 f250 regular cab project. Only place dry I could fit that pile of wire. Never imagined it could be that massive. Anyway, I got everything except the frame and body, all I need is that teeny weeny litttle harness Cody make. I'll figure it out eventually.

Here's a picture of those 2 wire harnesses I need. Anyone have a drawing of how to wire all that together. I have truck harness for components, but need a wire diagram to assemble one. 2 slightly different ones here, not sure which is needed for the 2002. The guy that makes these (Cody) isn't giving up any info.

This should help you out. That sure looks like a 99-01 underhood fuse box, which you really don't need. The relays and fuses can be separate. The attached is for an 01, but it will make the engine run. The numbers on the connection points correspond to the pin positions on the connectors. IIRC, there are corresponding numbers on the connectors.

I will upload it for you
it is for All F series trucks clear up to F-550
what they did, was draw dotted lines around special items and mark it " F-550 only " , etc...

Thanks. That appears to be the entire wire harness. I actually have one of those for an 02 f350 crew cab. What I need is a diagram of how to build the harness that I posted a picture of. Im going to put the motor in a 69 f250. So all I need is that harness I posted that only makes the motor run and nothing else. I was hoping woodthings would pipe up with his wiring expertise and tell me how to build this one pictured. Is he still on here?

Yes, he was on about a month ago. You could PM him, username is woodnthings8.
With a bit of sleuthing, you could figure it out from the wiring diagram I posted, just connecting the essential stuff.

LOL, I'm not woodnthings. I'm good at making things like this, but only if I have a diagram showing what to make. I'm not a good sleuther, Hahaha. Wish I was. He's helped in the past has a great knowledge of wiring. He gave me a complete colour coded wire diagram for my whole truck. It's been so useful, regular drawings don't show colors. I'd pay for one if these. I offered Cody money but he won't reply. Keeping it to himself. Grrrr. I tell ya, when I do get a diagram for one, I'll make sure everyone gets to see it.
OK
I've highlighted everything you'll need in yellow. Not sure how you're dealing with instrument cluster stuff.

Instrument cluster shouldn't be required. The harnesses posted have no cluster provisions. I just need motor. Everything else is taken care of. Thanks
You might want to include the check engine light and WTS light, which can just be 12v bulbs of some sort. Looks like the PCM provides a ground for those.
Thank you.
