Need some advice-parked my 2002 7.3 two days ago-running fine. Now will not even turn over. Cleaned all cables, even at starter motor, charged batteries (which are almost new) still will not even "click" when I turn attempt to start. Checked fuses-could not find any problem there. When I turn key on part way all gauges light up-but when I go to start mode all lights go off??? Any suggestions on what to check next? Also, with an automatic transmission, will it start if I have somebody give me a pull? Need to get it 85 miles to ford garage if I can't find what is wrong. Thanks for any suggestions. One more thing-this did happen before but started ok when I used jumper cables-this time nothing.

Have you checked the starter relay, in the fusepanel? I'd pull it and see if it's just got a bad connection.

On the starter there are 2 wires. One big one from the batteries (+) and a small one to the solenoid. The small one will have 12v when the key is turned to "start". If you have a meter or a light, hook it up to that and see if you have power there. If you DO, the solenoid/starter is the problem. If not, the relay under the dash should be clicking when you go to "start". If not, it can be the relay OR ignition switch. If you are NOT getting power to the solenoid, in a pinch you can jump 12v there to start the truck, just make sure the ignition is to "run", and that everything around that little terminal is a short, so don't touch anything else with the wire.
