What I am thinking of doing is using this to keep the TC locked until I get down to around 20 mph. This would eliminate the problem of the TC unlocking when the brakes are tapped coming down a hill and causing your speed to increase when you are trying to slow down. The problem is that it would also lock the TC at 20 mph on acceleration. Would this work? What kind of problem would this cause if any? With my current programming, the TC locks at around 40 mph.

Thanks,

The only problem I see is a lack of lubrication due to a slow pump speed.

Suncoast makes a switch for locking and unlocking the torque convertor. It is speed sensative and works great in the mountains...

due to low pressure you can easily tosat the TC that way, I did mine in one time in Spokane, you should only use it for decelleration not that low, get a good chip programed and you will not even need the switch

granted this is for my car, but I was able to get my computer programed so the TC would lock up at normal speed 43mph, then remained locked unless throttle dictated a unlock. It only unlocks now at low speed, something like 20 mph. Breaks don't unlock it and 0 throttle does not unlock it.

I really like that set-up. Not sure if you can get a setting for normal lock, but slower speeds for unlock?
