My buddy let his g-friend drive his truck and this is what happened. Everyone was alright though. This truck was only about 9 months old, and had about 15,000 miles on it. It has good 6 speed transmission, 6.0 motor, 4 wheels & tires, grille, headlights and a good bed. I guess everything under the hood is in good shape also. The cab, doors, front fender bumper is all trashed from the wreck. I did install the cab lights and the managed to stay intact through the wreck, not even a crack in the plastic lenses.

They gave him $30,000 for it so they should offer it to him for about $6,000. Do you think this would be a good buy? Will the motor and stuff be easily transfered into my '04 if i was to tear something up? Thanks.

$6000 Would be a good price for that truck. There is easily that much money in the engine/transmission alone. The frame, axles, and suspension and bed would be worth a good bit as well. Heck if you really wanted to, You could go get a cab/front end, and have a perfectly good truck. (I assume the frame is not damaged)

The suspension components are different but other wise everything else should be compatible. You also may want to check your state laws on salvage title and if you would be able to retitle it if you put a new cab on it. As far as Engine/tranny.....go for it.

What were some of the details of the accident?
What caused it to (apparently) roll over?
She wasn't injured?...It looks like the cab crushed right into her.
Was she hit from the front or the rear by another driver?
Did the airbag deploy?
To get access to the mysteriously undamaged cab-lights under
the headliner, did you have to crawl in through the broken
glass in the crushed doorframes?

Does your friend have "GAP" insurance?
This covers the amount he will ow on a totaled vehicle vs
what was lost by depreciation since it was only 9 months old.

Who is the "they" that already gave him $30K?
Was it his own insurance company?

These are important questions.

She ran off the road and rolled it onto the top. She crawled out with only a minor scratch. She wasn't hit at all from anywhere and the airbags didn't deploy. I realize they probably should have but they didn't. He says they have already told him that it was totaled and that they was giving him 30,000 for it and that is more than what he owed on it.

I agree, buy it back, throw a new cab on there and make another 20k by selling it.

I rolled a ranger pickup (not really apples to apples) and it did the same thing. crushed the cab, hood, doors and fenders, but the grille, bed frame, etc etc were perfectly fine. New cab and a paintjob and it was back on the road.
