I'm looking for a new truck at the moment. Currently have a 05 v10 crew cab short bed with 4.10's. I tow a tool trailer 6-8k lbs weekly and also have a dump and equipment trailer that are 14 GVWR. I'm nervous that the 6.2 isn't going to do as well as my v10 and that I don't drive enough to justify the 6.7. I'm 15k miles a year probably. I do run boxes and racks on my truck so it is pretty heavy all the time. 8-8.5k. I average 9 in town with my v10 and 6-7 towing heavy and plowing snow. How do you guys think that the 6.2 and 6.7 would compare? Thanks

After all the reading I've done, I've been leaning towards the 6.2. Seems to be pretty on par with my current engine. The v10 has been ok a bit off on the hills towing and poor mpg but otherwise ok. I do keep reading posts though that have me thinking I should go back to diesel (used to have 7.3) but I know they are different animals. While it would be under warranty I'm really leery of maintenance issues. I end up running pretty short drives for the most part and my 7.3 would never completely come up to temp a lot. I worry about that with the 6.7. Also I can tow my tool trailer daily, but usually get it to a job and try to leave it. So end towing it once a week more likely. I'll keep reading and try to figure all this out.

I've only got 10k miles on mine, but happy so far. Average 11.9-12 mpg. That is with racks and boxes and limited highway driving. Pulls trailers fine, just won't walk up grades on the highway. Really have to get her screaming to hold speed. 4-6 gear isn't a problem but if it kicks into 3rd I get scared. Try to slow down before that happens. Still gets me from point A to B.
