Would you buy the gasser again?

I really have no need for a diesel but I do really like the Super Duty trucks. So as the title states if something happened to your truck today would you buy another 6.2 liter powered Super Duty.

Thanks

I am looking a 6.2L because it will be sitting sometimes
between camping trips. The 6.7L does not like to sit long periods of times.

First off nice truck. I am one that does like the new look.

Where did you see taht the 6.7 does not like to sit. I leave mine sit for weeks at a time during the winter. I have actually only put on 500 miles in 3.5 months. Truck is for pulling a trailer. Everything I have heard is no problem leaving them sit just keep the fuel tank full.

I've heard the comment on this forum down through the years I have been a member.
Also how driving in constant traffic is not good for the 6.7L. In Honolulu there is a lot of congested bumper-to-bumper traffic driving here. It cannot be avoided sometimes.
It would not be the first time I have been wrong in these subjects. I could be wrong about the 6.7L, as I have never owned one yet. But every owned Ford gas truck or Car. I have never had Engine or Transmission problems.
So I will play it by ear and if I come across a 6.7L down the line I might give it a try, and test drive it!
Have a good day,
Scott
To be happy with a vehicle, you have to match the job to the truck. In my case, I have a travel trailer that weighs10,000 totally loaded up. I live in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States, which means most of my towing is in moderate mountains and I only tow about 10 trips a year. I went with an F250 gas because the likelihood of me towing through the Rockies is really low. East of the Mississippi, the tallest peaks are in the low 6,000 feet and you have to plan to get to one of those. 99% of the time, I'm below the horsepower robbing elevations for naturally aspirated engines. I have no desire to tow above 65mph, nor do I mind the occasional peak where I slow down to 55 to not have to scream the gas engine to blast over the mountain. If I towed more, or lived in an actual mountainous region out west, I might have bought diesel.
Would I buy 6.2 again? Heck yes!!!!! Favorite truck I've ever owned and I owned a bunch.

Can anyone give me some mpg numbers after tuning their 6.2 gasser? I'm looking at a 2016 F250 with the 6.2 and a local shop told me they could get me an extra 3mpgs. From what I'm reading, that would put it at 17 or 18 mpg's? That's a game changer in my book.

My 2015 6.2 got 11.5 mpg.

My 2016 6.2 getting 10.5 mpg. I don't care though. I traded my '15 that I loved for a new Tacoma, hated it. (Temporary insanity).
Bought a new race red CC XLT this week. I love it! I had two 6.2s and a '13 6.7 powerstroke. 6.2 gas engines are great. But don't expect good mileage.

I am going with a gasser next but keeping my diesel for heavy loads. The f150s go way better in the La. mud because they are so light in comparison.

I would get a new gasser if I could get the v10 . I may have to switch back to diesel.Might go with a dodge.
My lifetime mileage is 13.4 after 25,000 miles.
I just did a 1,200 mile drive with my 6.2L Crew Cab & 373 gears.
Tank 1 80 to 90 MPH, 12.1 MPGs, high speed highway traffic.
Tank 2 40 to 60 MPH some stopping due to traffic. 16.1 MPGs (best ever for me with this truck).
Tank 3 & 4, it was night pretty much straight 74 MPH, 15.1 & 15.0. A few slow downs and stopping for road construction.
Diving around the suburbs running errands, going through the drive throughs I get 9 to 11.
Problem is a gasser won't pull my trailer.... >:)
No; I would not get a gasser. Granted, I traded a 2010 F-150 FX4 in on my 2015, but there is absolutely no comparison in power or fuel mileage for that matter. I test drove a 2015 6.2L and could not be happier with the 6.7L PSD. With the incentives the dealer was giving on the PSDs in my area, the cost of the diesel was "zero" and the overall cost of the truck was within $1000 of a comparatively equipped F-150 (the discounts were not that great on the F-150s). Yes, there is more maintenance on a diesel versus a gasser, but one has to take that into consideration while researching the differences between the two.

Yes. My F350 DRW 4x4 CC 6.2 has done a great job hauling my 5,500+ pound truck camper all over the west. No way I could have done it with a diesel, the payload ratings are too small.
Im thinking about getting rid of my 7.3 and ordering another regular cab 6.2, maybe a DRW
I'm looking for a new truck at the moment. Currently have a 05 v10 crew cab short bed with 4.10's. I tow a tool trailer 6-8k lbs weekly and also have a dump and equipment trailer that are 14 GVWR. I'm nervous that the 6.2 isn't going to do as well as my v10 and that I don't drive enough to justify the 6.7. I'm 15k miles a year probably. I do run boxes and racks on my truck so it is pretty heavy all the time. 8-8.5k. I average 9 in town with my v10 and 6-7 towing heavy and plowing snow. How do you guys think that the 6.2 and 6.7 would compare? Thanks
You likely need the 6.7 PSD

I agree, you'll be better with a diesel. I avg 11 mpg with 10k trailer

After all the reading I've done, I've been leaning towards the 6.2. Seems to be pretty on par with my current engine. The v10 has been ok a bit off on the hills towing and poor mpg but otherwise ok. I do keep reading posts though that have me thinking I should go back to diesel (used to have 7.3) but I know they are different animals. While it would be under warranty I'm really leery of maintenance issues. I end up running pretty short drives for the most part and my 7.3 would never completely come up to temp a lot. I worry about that with the 6.7. Also I can tow my tool trailer daily, but usually get it to a job and try to leave it. So end towing it once a week more likely. I'll keep reading and try to figure all this out.

7.3 and nev look back!
