2007 ford f250

200k on it

just had refurb engine installed with new oil elements as well.

on a 9 hr road trip, the wrench light came on but no other warning lights.
no stock guages showed any raises in levels.

no noticed loss of power at all.

the light would only come on once i drove at about 75 mph for about 10+ miles.
it would not turn off when i slowed down,
but when i would kill the truck and restart it, the light would be off.

just driving in town or on the highway briefly, nothing comes on.

took it in to oreillys to get scanned and they tell me a few codes pull up but none of them are valid.

any idea what would trigger the wrench?

My turbo used to always trigger mine from over or under boost codes only when working the turbo hard with a trailer on. There are several other triggers such as (I think just on later trucks like ours) a large delta on the oil & coolant temps. There are other causes but I can't think of them at the moment, hopefully others with add to this. Oh, and staying on until you restart the truck is normal at least for the turbo boost issues anyways.

I had a stuck fuel sender trigger mine. It can be many things.

Are you talking the wrench light or the MIL lamp? When I use my 100 gal aux tank and it gravity feeds into the main tank, the fuel gauge stays stuck on full and that throws the MIL lamp with a fuel sender issue code but not the wrench light.

Phil: You are right. It is the light that looks like an engine.
