to add to the many posts pertaining tuners:

can you safely run an sct xcal 2 without a monitoring system??

i will not be too hard on it, i just wanted a little better fuel mileage.

if it is not safe, would an egt guage and boost guage suffice, or would i have to get an entire monitoring system?

If you're running a hot tune and keep you toe in it, you need to watch EGT's. If not, you're fine, unless there is some off the wall problem.

IMHO, regardless of what most people will say, normal driving does not require gauges. If you're working it hard and it's tuned, you're probably still OK but I'd want to know for sure.

It's all in how you drive, how it's tuned, and your comfort level.

Do you tow at all? I run my 01 without gauges in the tow program (60hp) empty. I did tow a friends boat about 8000k chris craft around town in with the edge evo in tow but i thought it would be fine for just a few miles. If you don't tow I'm sure you're fine but gauges are cheap insurance. oh and they look pretty bad ass too.

I watch my EGT's and have only seen 1200 degrees once or twice. I am rarely on streets where I dare go past 60-65mph. If you're not going to the track, running it hard up to 100 mph all the time, or running it hard with a large load I think you'd be fine.

... but I agree, they look pretty damn cool!
