Does anyone know how many RPMs the PTO option on the FZ transmission produces? Also does anyone know of a site that I can find out info about the PTO for the ZF transmission

Thanks

The output RPM depends on the ratio of the pto the is put on, meaning that if a PTO with a ratio percentage of 100%, will have an output on the shaft 100% of the engine RPM. So 800 engine RPM will produce an output shaft speed of 800 RPM. You will have to becarefull of the required torque and HP that are required for whatever it is the you will be running. Each trans have a limit to the amount of hp and torque that can be delivered via a PTO
As for PTO's, there are a 2 that come to mind real quick. MUNCIE and CHELSEA. Both are very good.

What RPM is required for the generator?
I have a MUNCIE application book that will tell me what ratio's will will give me what RPM.
I'm guessing that you will have an S5-45 ZF tranny. I can let you know what ratio PTO you will require.

I will try to find out exactly what the rpms should be, but I think that 600 would be the fastest. If memory serves, 570 seems to be close. Thanks for the help, your the first person that I have found that could answer these questions

I deal with PTO's and hydraulic pumps everyday, I'm just glad that someone finally asked a question that I had the answer to.
With a MUNCIE PTO, the ratios are from an 04 ratio that will give you 28% of the engine rpm, up to an 18 ratio that will give you 154% of the engine rpm.
So if 600 rpm is what you roughly require, than a pto shouldn't be a problem. The duty cycle of the generator will be a concern, you'll probably have to put an oil cooler kit on.
Any local distributor of Muncie or Chelsea pto's should be able to gear you up with what you'll need.

Have you ever known of anyone using a PSD to run a generator? I found the website for Muncie, but didnt have any luck finding one for the other you mentioned.

The only problem with doing it, is the length of time that it will be running. The ZF and the pto are not meant for constant duty. I have set up air compressor's, hydraulic pumps and I had one set up that had a belt drive generator run off of the compressor pulley.
Here is a link to the MUNCIE page for the ZF.
