I have always wondered what the zoodad mod was until I saw a post this week. Looks easy and sounds good. I read a post last night about how it didn't make any difference on this persons data and actually raised his EGT. Wondering if this is actually true or if other have had any problems. Also worried about water in the filter box. I am planning on double screening the hole, but there will always be a chance of water to get it. I thought I heard of sombody drilling holes in the air box?

If anybody could give me some good or bad experiences with this zoodad mod, please reply. I want to do it this afternoon. It is just awful hard to patch that big of a hole if something doesn't work out!

Any instructions on how to do this exactly. I saw them the other night, but can't seem to find them now.

Thanks!!!

I live in Houston, and we get 60+ inches of rain a year...many times in downpours. Have had the Zoodad mod for 4 years...no problems whatsoever.

As for instructions...follow the air box channel to the front of the grill...and cut there. That easy.

Did you have to drill holes anywhere for any water to get out IF any were to get in the filter box?

Looks like a great mod and makes sense. I was really surprised to see how little of a hole as made for the stock setup.

Is there any noticable performance increase, throttle response, MPG, EGT? I don't/can't afford gauges right now and only tow a 3k lbs boat in the summer. Planning on a trip to Minnesota here shortly and want to make sure the EGT stay plenty low. Never had problems before, but you never know.

I really like these free mods. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Are there anymore I am unaware of. Or maybe I should say under $20. Maybe spare parts in the garage?

Thanks!

Awesome!!! I am ready to break out the drill now!

Does anybody have the size hole saw to use? I know I saw direction on how to do this earlier this week, but lost the thread. Just want to do the mod right.

I just did mine yesterday. Easy! Instead of using two different size hole saws like the origional zoodad, I just drilled 2 2.5" holes, and connected them. Leaves you with a nice oval that looks stock.
I'll post some pictures after dinner.

Thanks man, I would really appreciate it! Did you think it was worth it? Not much effort I know, but have you noticed any better drivability?

Check back in about 9:30pm

Thanks!!!

I posted the pics in my gallery. I haven't driven the truck yet, so I don't know if it feels any different. But it should, because it is now getting a blast of cool air rammed into the airbox. Some people pay 5 to 6 hundred dollars for a ram air hood. Same principle, and this is free!!
While I have the grill off, I'm redoing that too. It got blacked out(exceptfor the crome), and then i'll be putting some aluminum screen behind it.

Pre pump mod is a couple of bucks.

As far as the zoodad goes, if you drive off road a lot, your air cleaner will need to be serviced more often. Be sure to put a screen over the hole to keep out the bees and humming birds.

My air box already had drain holes in it stock.
