I'm thinking on getting a 5th wheel. Right now I have a slide-in camper and once a while tow my jeep.

Do I need a special license to tow the 5th wheel a vehicle behind it? Will my class C license will do?

Since living in California I know that max length is 65' which I believe it not going to be a problem, not planning on a long 5th wheel.

Check with CA DMV to be sure but in Ohio for an RV you do not need anything but a regular driver license.

Amazing, isn't it?

If your 5th wheel will weight over 10k pounds you need a special endorsement. Pretty easy to get. No medical required. However most DMV offices have no idea what you will be talking about. When I did mine it took longer for them to figure out what to do than actually do it and take the simple test.

Others have hit the main points:

1. fifth wheel less than 10,000 lbs GVWR = no extra licencing required
2. fifth wheel between 10,001 lbs and 15,000 lbs = an RV endorsement on your Class C license
3. fifth wheel over 15,000 lbs GVWR = non-commercial Class A license is required
4. fifth wheel towing anything = CDL with doubles endorsement

It's legal in CA if you are properly licensed/loaded/length/etc...
