Looking to see if anybody has reports on egt drops with switching there 7.3 cooler with a 6.0? Mainly while towing or pulling hills.
Yes I know that I should just get a spearco or banks cooler but $1300 for a intercooler is a long ways down the list for mods and a less than $200 upgrade for even 100-200 degree drop would be worth it to me. a way better cooler is still in future but looking at something that might help for another year or so.
so any info would be great

Thanks
Tyler

I saw a 100 degree drop in EGT's. Not too bad considering I spent less than $200 for everything brand new in the box.

However the main differences in our trucks is that you have much bigger injectors than I do. With what you are running, I doubt that the 6.0L I/C will even give you that much of a drop in temps. My suggestion is get the Spearco or DIIC.

Did I read this wrong? You can buy an intercooler for $200.

WHERE?

Look at the for sale sections of most of the diesel web sites. I got my 6.0 IC for free from a member of SoCAPS who had one sitting around.

Is it a direct bolt in or a lot of mods?

And you need to relocate or modify the trans cooler.

There is an upgrade for the 6.0 Trans cooler to the 7.3. Direct bolt in, saw it in DP magazine. Is the 6.0 I/C thicker so that the trans cooler won't fit.

The IC will hit the feed and return lines on the stock cooler because it sits lower and is a little thicker.

I'm a little dense. Your saying the 7.3 cooler is lower and thicker. Will it fit with the 6.0 Trans cooler?
I was thinking of doing the 6.0 cooler cause I tow. In either case I would have to move the trans cooler?

The 6.0 IC sits lower and is thicker than the stock 7.3 intercooler. The 6.0 IC will hit the stock 7.3 trans cooler lines on the passengers side. I just removed the trans cooler and mounted a bigger aftermarket unit in front of the new intercooler.
