If it cranks fine w/ the "wire going to the starter" then it isn't the starter.

Check the fan clutch connector and wires (you can even try cranking with this connector disconnected in case there is a short in the clutch itself). Also try to crank in neutral. Reset the inertia safety switch. Check fuse F2.22

I replaced fuse 22, I'm pretty sure it didn't pop again if it even did before, I pushed down on the inertia switch, didn't go down any more, neutral and move shifter didn't do anything, I'll check the fan clutch if I can find it.

ive yet to get mine figured out also. starts great at jumper to started but no key.

When you jump the starter connected the wire to the positive battery?
