I am looking to upgrade my exhaust. I was looking at the
Banks Power Powerstroke 7.3L Single Monster Exhaust System with power elbo

but I am not completely sold on it yet. It looks like it will run $800.00 if I install it myself. Anybody running this exhaust or have other suggestions?

I have the Banks Monster system on my truck. The quality/fit was great. I installed it my self in the driveway in about 3 -4 hours. It performed as advertised by lowering the exhaust temp 100 - 150 deg and not much louder than stock. Don't fall for the muffler delete crap.:nono: It makes your truck sound like you've lost 2 or 3 injectors or as previously described in the forum... "like someone is choking a goat". :wink2:

When I purchased mine in '03 it was on-sale at monster exhaust.com with free shipping.

I live in Corpus Christi so I am always around Salt spray either from the beach or the bay. Rust is a problem down here. All of my RanchHand gear and my NFab Nerf bars are starting to show rust so I want to go with a product that will hold up. The NFab nerf bars were supposedly powder coated and I guess the RanchHand stuff was just painted. I'm getting off topic but its in an effort to clarify that I want a good exhaust that will hold up to the elements. Not sure I completely trust the Stainless since I have seen stainless rust but I would assume it would hold up better then the Aluminum coated stuff. Please correct me if I am wrong. :read:

Thanks

If you live in salty areas, I would say you should probably upgrade to a 409SS unit. It probably will hold up to what your needs are. I would run the Al unit if I was in some nice place that didn't dump tons of salt on the ground.

The Banks exhaust really isn't that much more money when u consider that the elbow is $150. I love mine!!!

I'll bite. What does that elbow do that I cannot have with the MBRP that hooks onto the end of the turbo?

In fact, unless you live in the rust belt, you can get aluminum. It will still flow the same specs.
It isn't aluminum, it is aluminized. The pipes are not made of aluminum, they are made of steel. The steel is hot dipped in an aluminum oxide. The temp rating of the coating is low enough that its suitability for a downpipe is marginal.

i have a Banks exhaust on my truck only because it came with one. i think the quality is there but it is way over priced. if i had bought my truck with a stock exhaust it would have been straight piped for far less money. i still toy with taking the muffler part off and let it dump above the axle.

No way. I don't want Banks asking for a bailout. You guys have to support him. :jester: I pay for quality. I don't OVERPAY for quality

I wouldn't. I am not sure if it is illegal but I sure would NOT have the exhaust dumping under the truck. You might be inhaling CO fumes.

Somebody has got to buy it or Banks will go out of business. Maybe at that point, he might call Obama for a bailout. Fortunately for him, there are enough people who read those ads.

MBRP makes a nice exhaust system for a decent price. Only drawback is that without the Banks sticker, you lose 20 HP.:lol:

Alum: Riffraff Diesel: Aluminized Single Exhaust

SS: Riffraff Diesel: Stainless Single Exhaust
All this talk about Banks being overpriced but the exhaust system I was looking at was stainless so when you compare it to the MBRP in stainless it looks to be about the same price. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Bank...QcmdZViewItemQQitemZ270594691988QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

Ya... Not Banks! There is no reason to pay more then $400-$500 for a complete turbo back system.

I would check with Performance Truck Products and see what he can do for you. If you want a 409 stainless system it should be in the $500 range, a 304 stainless system will be about $400 and an aluminized system will be about $250-$350...
