I disagree. only WIX filters are causing problems AKA SDF88 not any AMSOIL EaO-88 white media filters. seems like a few just want to make Amsoil look bad as usual /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

Like I said I wasn't sure if the 2 were the same, but knew that Wix made filters for Amsoil(whether this applies to this one I'm not sure)
Either way production was stopped

SDF88 is who's part #? Or is it outdated, as it doesn't show up on the Wix Web site, just the EAO88 shows the Wix part # 57314

Just wondering

Facts are facts...he had slow oil pressure with the Amsoil filter...changed it to an OEM style and oil pressure issues went away.

From what i know, Amsoil in general has a good filter in their EaO series. Unfortunately, they are not working properly in 6.0 applications.

So you can disagree all you want, and live with the Illusion that Amsoil can't do wrong. But guess what you will still be WRONG.

SDF-88 is the brown WIX filter that Amsoil stopped using.
they where selling what is left of those and sell now only the
newer EaO-88 white media filter.

Hey I am having this delayed oil pressure build up also. Is this delayed pressure build up going to affect the engine? Or should I change out that filter ASAP?

I just removed some inflammatory and off topic remarks from this thread... Please keep it on topic and leave the personal attacks out of it. This was also moved to the Upgrades and Aftermarket forum, since it involves an aftermarket filter system...

sicksoh,

If it were me, I would change out the filter ASAP.... Delayed oil pressure means a delay in full oil protection to important engine parts......

What I don`t understand is why anyone with this issue even ?`s it and does`nt not get that oil filter out and put a motorcraft back in.
I had this problem 2 years ago and Ford even R&R the oil filter housing check valve thinking that was the oil drainback problem in which they left my wix oil filter in.
I still had the issue until I did my next oil change which was only a few weeks later.
But didnot like the change wix made using a rubber washer gasket vs the yellow material on motorcraft and elected going back to using only Motorcraft#2014 @ Wal*Mart.
"WOW" No more oil drain back and no more 4-5 seconds before oil pressure, the last 2 years and 24K miles.
Why take anymore chances????
I am not chancing anything else not even Fram or STP, Motorcraft knows the specs and that has be proven here.

Well I contacted Amsoil about this problem and they said they have not heard any complaints about this such thing before. The girl said she was going to pass the info on to the filtration dept. I tihnk everyone with this problem should give there tech support a call so that they will beleive there is something wrong with there product and maybe they will fix it.

Anyone with any Amsoil product can get support from Amsoil or the dealer you bought the product from just have to ask, instead of becoming irrate about the matter have paitence to resolve your problem, human to human understanding may take a few different people
customer service is there if you ask for it with a good attitude.
I hope this info isn't in breach of forum rules. cant seee why /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

half the high dollar parts I buy for performance use never fit and need modification before I can use it, ya sometimes I want to throw tools but I just use the tools and massage those parts till they work for me.
sometimes it is the wrong part then I throw tools /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/depressed.gif

with a good attitude solutions are easier to find.

idiabuse, I have tried the EaO-88 filter with the white media on my 6.0, still have it in the garage, and it does take longer for the oil pressure to rise. I changed to a fram and all was fine afterward. I sent an email to Ed the tech at amsoil and he was perplexed and forwarded the research I did to include pictures and a step by step process for testing to reproduce the problem. I have not heard anymore from them but I am still using fram/motorcraft filters till I here from them about a change....I am using the AME 15w-40 HDD oil though....

The WIX's rep. is due here tomorrow to pickup the filter and look at the problem of slow oil pressure. So if you are having a problem it will help all if you let the vendor know.

Idiabuse,

You give Amsoil a black eye. Why don't you do research before you blindly come on here and state that Amsoil does no wrong, it isn't our products, blah blah.

Fact is, and Amsoil is aware of this problem.....their filter for the 6.0 is shorter than the OEM spec'd filter and it doesn't keep the check valve pushed down in the filter housing and when that happens all of the oil in the canister drains back into the pan at shutdown. Being that you're an Amsoil rep I'd thought that you would know that. By the way, Amsoil is working to alleviate the problem.

Don't expect Fleetfilter to help. I emailed them about the problem, and still no RESPONSE!!!!!!!!! I guess losing a customer is no big deal. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

The WIX's rep was here and picked up my filter. I now have an open "product evaluation request". He did say that there is a stock hold on the 57314 which is new since I first called them. I will post any response I get.

The Amsoil "Wix" filters are SDFXX and are the first generation filters if you will, the Donaldson/Baldwin are the EaOXX - these are the second generation filters and are made from synthetic media.

BTW the NAPA gold filter is the Wix filter also.
