Oil or additive?

What is everyone doing to deal with the low sulpur diesel fuel?

I researched the archives and it seems to be all over the place. Some use oil, Some trans fluid and some use different kinds of additives. All responses seem to be fairly old.

Your thoughts are appreciated.

I have been running some Wal-Mart SuperTech ash less 2 stroke oil in mine and have noticed a quieter engine along with a little bit on the mpg scale. I usually run it 1 oz to 1 gallon. I have also ran Stanadyne Performance Formula but didn't notice any difference one way or the other by running it.

Thanks, I may try the WalMart stuff, I sure wouldn't mind a quieter engine.

Thanks!

I run 50/50 diesel to waste oil/tranny fluid whatever is dumped into my waste drum. filter it through a 5 micron filter from ebay and pour it right in the tank, excelent lubrication quieter engine and better fuel economy. Some even run as much as 75% oil to diesel but i don't have the balls for that. cuts my fuel bill to $2.30 a gallon. I have also run used peanut/olive/canola oil in there too. I usually only run about 3-5 gallons and fill the rest up with #2. Anymore than that and it cuts down on mileage, but hey free peanut oil is free and it burns.

Are there any long term effects on the injectors one way or the other?

Some one told me to put some atf in the fuel, put half quart in my front tank but have not drove much, said it will clean up the fuel system and lube up the motor beter, is this true? if so what would be a safe amount?

I use this in my fuel:

BG DFC Plus
BG DFC (Diesel Fuel Conditioner) Plus combines all of the ingredients of BG DFC with DPL, Part No. 227D, plus a pour depressant/flow improver. Special pour depressant additives isolate wax crystals as they are formed during cold weather and prevent their growing together; thus, fuel flows freely at sub-zero temperatures. BG DFC Plus cleans the entire fuel system, controls engine deposit formation, improves diesel engine combustion and power, eliminates injector plunger sticking, eliminates nozzle fouling, extends injector life, reduces exhaust smoke caused by a dirty fuel system, stabilizes fuel in storage, is soluble in all diesel fuels, protects fuel system components from rust and corrosion, contains no metallic ash producing materials, and provides the necessary film strength and lubricity to low-emission diesel fuel to prevent pump parts from scoring or seizing. Catalytic converter and oxygen sensor safe. This diesel fuel additive complies with the Federal low-sulfur content requirements for use in diesel motor vehicles.
Part No. 230 32 oz. (946 mL) bottle

I know our BG rep personally and he and his crew have done a ton of tests on the Des Moines city bus fleet to test his product with incredible results.
I recommend you talk to your local BG distributor and get all the latest info and decide for yourself. My local International dealer turned me on to him when I was questioning the ultra low sulfer issue.
One thing that was discussed was adding trans fluid to our fuel. According to their research it's not doing what you want it to.
(In no way am I affiliated with BG)

I too use ashless 2 stroke oil .... varies on what is cheapest. Gander Mountain here had Citgo 2-stroke for $9.99/gal on sale. bought some and reusing the pint bottles. I just dump 1 pint per tank. I'm getting better mileage too but at $4.68/gal for fuel my driving habits have changed too. EGT's seem to be less by a couple hundred also and quieter.

I know this an older thread but has anyone seen any injector issues running the super tech tcw3? My local walmart has it on clearance. Also if I mix it with white bottle power service for the winter is it gonna hurt anything?

I am with Bugman and continue to run the Stanadyne Performance Formula, blue bottle Cetane improver as well as Wally low ash 2 cycle. On my '96 it improved mileage about 1.5 mpg or so.....on the sig truck not sure but it does run much quieter and seems to like it....hahaha

Biodiesel... in any proportion from B5 to B100.
Tremendous lubricity and keeps fuel system and engine clean.
I would not run SVO or WMO. You will ruin your injectors sooner or later.

I tried the walmart stuff at a half a pint per tank and my 95 did not like it. Fuel mileage was better but the motor was louder and I thought I was gonna have to get out and push it as the turbo lag was unbeleivable. Oreilleys sells redline diesel supplement and I tried that and it made a huge diff, atleast in my truck anyways. My local marathon fills up all the local buses for the school district and seem to have real good fuel that seems to be as good as anything with no additives needed.

I have a 2003 ex with 44 gal tank. I tried 2 stroke tw3 from wallmart. 1 ounce per gallon. lost mpg by about 2. May be good for motor, but i want better mpg also. I am going to try different stuff.
The post I read about the walmart 3 stroke oil was 16 ounces per tank. 200 to 1. It could be I used to much per gallon.
