I am going to change out the headlights, turn signal and parking lights out to the newer clear style but don't know what to take apart first or where to begin.
I know that many of you have done it before so any help is apreciated.

The hardest part is getting those darn retainers out!!! Get a real skinny screwdriver and simply pry the fingers out and then use a needle nose vice grip to pull straight up. Replacing is pretty straight forward, before you start park about 30-50 ft from a wall and mark where the main beam is located, just use duct tape or something and also mark the ground where the wheels were, then when you get done park in the same spot and adjust as needed. You will love the increased light output especially if you invest in the upgraded wiring harness from GOSRacing.

I have the GOS harness. I'm waiting to install it until my Sylvania Silverstar ULTRA 9007 SU bulbs are delivered. Does the harness make the factory bulbs that much brighter? I've heard good things about the harness so I thought I would give it a try.

I installed mine at the same time I installed the 03 clear lights so not sure if it was just the clear housings/ harness or both of them together but I got a lot more light now. I was going to buy new bulbs but figured I would just wait until these burn out, heck there almost 8 years old it shouldn't be long!!!

Where exactly are those retainers located?

three on each lens. I dont think you are going to the 05s right? Just to the 02 and up?

I WOULD TAKE the batteries out, I didn't at what should have been an hour job, turned into about a three hour job with cut knuckles reaching down in there and all,,,
Take vice grips, or a good pair of pliers and pull STRAIGHT up. You will see how they secure when you get the batts out and get to look at them good.
