we have them in our L8000's at work and mines a turd. where is the fuel screw or metering plate and how can I tighten up the governor, it stops at 2200 while all the other trucks will wind to 3K /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif all filters are new so I knows it not a plugged fuel filter. Bosch pump but I forgot what the numbers on the side were I'll look tuesday and post em.

It's the same as an 8.3L Cummins. Good engine, but some were detuned as low as 210HP.

my replay earlier was to REDHORSE on the triple nickle thing....

BUT yes some were detuned as are all these. the HP numbers are posted on the VC, and it sucks.

I dont know the exact year but its a mechanical pump, no electronics.

fully loaded it will see 10 tons plus what ever the truck weights. 7 speed trans behind it.

just pull the back cover off or what, I take it there isn't a fuel plate on these, just a metering screw????

yes driven plenty of trucks, there single axle trucks that only get used 3 months out of the year. mine has 284K on it, which to me seems plenty low for that motor. I would venyure to say that its as slow as our mack semis.....

it just sucks trying to get out into traffic with it. traffic in this town gets pretty crazy, and with some more beans it would me ALOT easier.
