Some code questions P1272, P1294

I was taking a hundred mile trip or so and I the engine cut out but kept running and flashed a check engine light then the light went out. It also seemed like it shifted to soon into o/d and the gear under o/d. So when I got into a town that has a ford dealership that my parents use on there vehicle I had them read the codes. The codes came back as no tranny codes. They gave me some engine ones that I already fixed and never cleared P0470, P0472, P0478, P1316. They also gave me some new injector codes that I have never seen P1271, P1294. What do those codes mean and what are some other trouble shooting that I can do?

1272- high to low side open inj #1
1294-high side open bank 2

P1294- high side open, chances are the UVC connector has come loose. It indicates the left bank (drivers side cyl 2,4,6,8) had /having an open circuit.

P1272-when you are checking the UVC connector, the block wire connector that you pull apart over te top of the VC, hold it upright and check the bottom row of wires for bare spots. Inj #1 is the 2nd wire (tan). If it is bare, it very well could be the problem for inj1.
Hope it helps you out a bit

Thanks I just changed the UVC harness on the drivers side when I got the P1613 code. So would that fix both of the injector codes? What do you mean by the block wire?

To pull the drivers VC you had to seperate a 42 pin connector. As the harness comes across the valve covers it rubs and will expose wires. It just so happens that the bottom row of wires (ones most subject to chaffing) are for the injector circuits. Injector #1 is the 2nd wire (tan). If it is bare, it can short to ground, and the IDM will see it as an open.
Replaceing the UVC harness on the drivers side would only take care of the P1294 code. P1272 is injector 1, which is on the opposite head.

No, P1272 is injector #2.

The 127X codes match injectors 1-8 in the last digit.

P1271-P1278 High to low side open cyl. # 1-8
Open circuit, open injector, failed IDM

So both problems are on the driver's side.
